AST7003 is a new elite turf-type tall fescue developed from turf plot selections in Pennsylvania and Oregon. AST7003 exhibits superior overall turf quality with key improvements in leaf texture, density and mowability. AST7003 has improved resistance to Brown Patch and Pythium Blight which are major problems in tall fescue turf during the summer. Superior heat and drought tolerance allows AST7003 to thrive during periods of summer stress that normally affect the turf quality and stand of tall fescue. One unique characteristic of AST003 is a very aggressive tillering growth habit which allows the plant to recover more quickly from damage and fill in bare spots or thin areas. AST7003 is a medium-fine tall fescue with a deep, dark green uniform color.
