AST5119 Turf Tall Fescue

AST5119 is an elite tall fescue variety that was developed to deliver on aesthetics and toughness. It encompasses all the traits required to provide outstanding turf quality. Dramatic advancements were made in leaf texture, resulting in a finer bladed tall fescue and in genetic color, which gives this variety a naturally very dark green hue. Combined with improvements in density and the result is an aesthetically exceptional tall fescue variety. The toughness of this variety comes from a couple of areas. The first being advancements in the key factors that plague tall fescue varieties, drought and heat tolerance combined with improved resistance to brown patch and Pythium diseases. Secondly, AST5119 has an aggressive tillering growth habit which enables it to repair itself from damage, fill in thin spots and speed recovery time. AST5119 is a medium-fine, aesthetically pleasing, resilient tall fescue that can be planted as a single stand, in blends with other tall fescue varieties or in mixes with other turfgrass species.

Management

Planting Rate

• (new): 6-8 lbs./1000 square feet
• (existing): 3-4 lbs./1000 square feet

Planting Dates

• (spring): March-May
• (fall): August-September

Soil pH: 5.5-8.0

Mowing Height: 2-4 inches; increased heights should be utilized during summer months to reduce stress to the plant.

Fertility: 4-7 lbs N/year (refer to soil test for exact amounts needed); Minimum N should be applied during summer months to reduce disease activity.
