AST1001 is a new, elite turf-type tall fescue variety developed to deliver the ultimate in turf quality while standing up to the environmental stresses that plague tall fescue. Aggressive tillering sets AST1001 apart from ordinary tall fescues. This intense tillering attribute allows AST1001 to recover rapidly from damage. This variety also has the ability to grow and persist in low light conditions allowing it to be used in denser shade than other tall fescue varieties. AST1001 is a top performer in the NTEP trials with high rankings for drought tolerance and brown patch resistance. AST1001 is a medium-fine textured, dense turf-type tall fescue with outstanding genetic dark green color, making it perfect for blends, mixes or planted by itself.

Planting Rate
- (new): 6-8 lbs/1000 square feet
- (existing): 3-4 lbs/1000 square feet
Planting Dates
- (spring): March-May
- (fall): August-September
Soil pH: 5.5-8.0
Mowing Height: 2-4 inches; increased heights should be utilized during summer months to reduce stress to the plant
Fertility: 4-7 lbs N/year (refer to soil test for exact amounts needed); Minimum N should be applied during summer months to reduce disease activity.
