Winter Triticale is a species that can reduce soil erosion and capture excess soil nitrogen making it an excellent choice for a cover crop in a mixture or pure stand. Rapid early growth after planting and deep set roots with good root mass improve soil structure. It has the potential to produce tonnage that will be a good weed competitor as well as offering the opportunity to graze in the fall and winter months making it a dual purpose species.
