Endophyte Free
Dominate is an endophyte free variety which eliminates concerns about fescue foot, bovine fat necrosis and fescue toxicosis in cattle which are normally associated with animals feeding on highly infected tall fescue varieties like Kentucky 31. When establishing a new pasture, make sure to first eliminate any established tall fescue in the field by using a combination of herbicides, tillage and/or crop rotation.
Medium Maturity
Dominate has outstanding regrowth and color during the summer which maximizes grazing and hay production. Tall fescue has the highest summer forage production of all the cool season grasses normally used in pastures.
Excellent Hay and Pasture Variety
Dominate can be utilized in pure stands or in combination with legumes such as white clover, red clover, alfalfa or lespedeza. When seeded at proper rates, Dominate will form a tight sod that will withstand the pressure of continuous grazing. Dominate also makes outstanding hay when harvested prior to maturity. Stubble height should be 3 to 4 inches when grazed or hayed.
Perfect for Winter Stockpiling
Dominate maintains its nutritive value better than other cool season grasses which allows growth to be “stockpiled” in the field for winter grazing.
Wide Area of Adaptation
Dominate can be grown successfully on a wide range of soil types with high to low pH values. Optimum production and forage quality will be achieved in a more neutral pH soil with proper fertilization.
